| | what happens when we die? do our souls go to heaven right away? | | People often misnterpret several key scriptures when trying to understand the truth about what happens at death, Jesus told one of the criminals being crucified next to Him: "Assuredly I say to you, today you will b ewith Me in Paradise" Luke 23:43.Does this mean Jesus and the criminal went to heaven togehter that day? It cannot! Why? Christ plainly taught that He would spend THREE DAYS and THREE NIGHTS in the grave-He called this "the sign of the prophet Johna" Matthew 12:39-40.If Jesus and that criminal went to heaven on the day of the crucifixion, Jesus did not fulfill the sign He had promised! What, then, did Jesus mean? The Bible's Greek language lacks the punctuation we expect in English text. Translators have imposed their doctrinal misunderstandinds on the plain Greek text.. Indeed, Jesus told the criminal that he would be with Him in His realm, but the world "today" refers not to "Paradise" but rather to "I tell you." Jesus was assuring this criminal of his future hope, not denying the sigh of His Messiahship. In the New Testament, we read that God called ancient King David "a man after My own heart" Acts 13:22. David is counted among the heroes of faith in... | |

| | Any tips on learning Greek? | | Has anyone got any hints or tips on learning the Greek language. Have you used any online or PC based learning to assist you and if so would you recommend any? Have tried some tapes where you keep repeating the sentences but nothing seems to stick in my mind.
If you can speak Greek already are there any phrases that you would suggest I learn to enable me to get by in certain situations. I hope there are some of you out there in Mylot that can help.
| | Fascinating Bible Fact #13 | | The SeptuagintAlexander the Great had a short career as a world conqueror, but it made a long-lasting impact. He swept through the Middle East, carrying the Greek culture with him. By the third century B.C., the Greek language was commonly spoken in cities throughout the region. Pockets of Jews lived in these cities, having migrated in times of famine and war. Increasingly, they spoke Greek rather than Hebrew, and that created a problem. How were they to read, study and teach the Hebrew Scriptures? Legend has it that 72 translators (representing six from each tribe of Israel) convened in Alexandria, Egypt, in about 250 BC to create a Greek version of the Scriptures known as the Septuagint (which means "seventy"). Most modern scholars date its translation later and estimate that it took place over a longer period of time. But the Septuagint was certainly being used by the Apostle Paul's time, allowing him to preach about Jesus from prophetic Scriptures to audiences of both Jews and Gentiles. | |

| | The myth of Dedalus and Icarus | | I tell you this myth and i hope it can help you to reflect about its meaning.
"Dedalus was a genius of engineering;he has invented the sculpture,he was also an excellent constuctor. For the homicide of his disciple he was exiled in Creta's isle where he constructed the Maze that from its name is also said Labyrinth (dedalo in greek language). Now if you know,Teseo to find again the road that let out him from the maze after he murdered Minnotauro, had been helped with the thread of Arianna. There is also who said that Teseo was helped by Dedalus who disclosed to him the secret of the maze.in this way Dedalo betraied the king of Creta Minosse, who punshed him closing in the labyrinth with his son Icaro.
Dedalus put together some feather and some wax and sticks them on the shoulders of himself and of his son,as wings. He recomanded his son to be careful to don't come too near the sun light during they go up toward the sky, because the wax that sald and joined the wings would be melted; he also recomended to don't lower too much toward the sea, because the humidity of the water would soak the pens and would be impossible to rise up again. But Icarus, still young and by beautiful hopes did not...
| | GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English) | | I have just published at lulu.com GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English) which is a translation from the Septuagint translated from the Hebrew language in about 270 B.C. by 70 Israelite elders in Alexandria, Egypt. God used the Hebrew language to write the Old Testament while He used the Greek language for the New Testament. This book is simple, beautiful, easily understood, and it is a translation that relays the true Word of God. It is in the form of prose to make the reading easy and interesting. God is mostly the one speaking in this book where our basic knowledge of everything in our life originated.Greek words are translated simply into their corresponding English word-equivalents. Transliterations are indicated in bold letters while additional words especially for grammar purposes are written in italics. Names of persons retain their Greek spelling in the nominative case. Names of places generally retain their Greek spelling; only few very popular places use their commonly used names. I translate the Holy Bible from Greek to English to help people understand the Word of God. I'm very grateful to God for giving me this very rare opportunity to serve Him in... | |
