ethics vs law ... immigrants, guns, murder, nationalism and religion
I was reading this discussion and found it amazing how so many people were blinded by nationalism. It asked if the church shelters and takes care of an illegal immigrant, should thay be fined?here it is if you want to check it out: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1250594.aspx?p=2now, i never thought i would be standing up for the church but, they are upholding the universal laws of ethics.. (even though one may argue that the main priority is to convert the immigrant who is being taken care of lol but thats not the point). the point is, many people were arguing that the church should be fined for not following the laws of the government.what kind of society do we live in where we uphold government laws, the laws that some idiots make in order to control the economy and people, over ethical laws, the laws that all human beings hold as being "wrong", unless they are sociopaths or have their own version of morality (IE religion, islam says its okay to hit when you are hit).I mean, nationalism blinds so many people nowadays, and its not whether your a conservative or liberal, its a matter of ethical law vs governmental law.one said that it was okay if the...
Ethics and Law
Imagine you have been sentenced to jail for 50 years for murder. But you are really innocent (someone set you up). You serve your sentence and when the 50 years is up, you are so angry that you kill the person who set you up. The question is: should you go to jail for a further 50 years or have you already served your sentence in the last 50 years?
Britain permits women to donate egg for research purposes
British women are authorized to donate their eggs for medical research, the country's agency that regulates fertility-related issues announced last wednesday. The Human fertilization and Embryology Authority said it is approving the recommendations by its Ethics and law committee that women who are not undergoing fertility treatment themselves should be permitted to donate eggs for research purposes...check this link for more:http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/333332.htmlpaths or have their own version of morality (IE religion, islam says its okay to hit when you are hit).I mean, nationalism blinds so many people nowadays, and its not whether your a conservative or liberal, its a matter of ethical law vs governmental law.one said that it was okay if the immigrant died in their own country, but not here.. i think that is insane.but then, this leaves us another question... if one person is allowed to have a gun, all people are because people are equal. if a soldier, however, is allowed to kill, then ALL PEOPLE should be allowed to kill, or else, people are not equal.does this mean that the government controls...
Work Ethics
You should work at a job you like, because you are there forever. You should not keep quiting your jobs, because that doesn't look good, and you won't ever become secure in what you're doing. whatever you do, make sure you're interested in the job, and what's around you. Your surroudnings should be pleasant enough to last until you retire. The people should be friendly enough so you're not very unahappy and planning to go elsewhere. What's your opinion? What do you do? Are you happy on the job?
Choosing from Ethics and Moral Part 2
Does Ethics and Moral affects one's dignity and disposition? Is it possible to choose from the two? if yes, why ethics?why Moral? if both which do you prefer most, Ethics or Moral? Is it hard to be ethical all the time and not compromising? Is it hard to be moral all the time and not compromising? Does this matters you?
Choosing from Ethics and Moral
Situation may vary, but does this mean that we have to change the established principle that we have?..... In so many centuries past we can quote that there are numerous people died for upholding their ethics and moral, and claiming it as worth it.Can we be ethically wrong and morally right? Can we be ethically right but morally wrong? Vice versa?
Where is the robot ethics charter?
Hey guys, I am writing a research paper about robotics and ethics. My theses statement is[...] I will illustrate the necessity of ethics in the application of robots. And now my problem is that I was hoping on studying the proposed ethics charter that the South Korean gouvernement supposedly created in 2008. And now where is it... No where to be found. I don't know what to do, information about my subject is so hard to find now. What do you think I should do? I should mention that this is my first research paper and that I am only a high-school student. Thank you.
Olympic, Legally blind skiier has ethics
I wasn't sure whether to post this discussion under Olympics or disability then I thought about what Brian McKeever would want and the choice was obvious. I wrote this article about him: Brian McKeever of Canadian cross-country skiing lost his bid to become the first athlete to compete in both the winter Olympics and the winter Paralympics. He was selected for the Olympic team as an alternate. He hoped to get a berth in the 50 kilometer cross-country race today, but each country is only allowed four spots. McKeever, who has a condition called Stargardt’s Disease, began losing his vision in college. He never wanted to be treated differently from other athletes. This desire contradicted the, in my opinion, wrong-headed opinions of some disability rights activists in Canada who thought that he should be allowed to race anyway, in spite of not gaining a guaranteed participatory spot on the team.I support Brian’s take on the matter. How are people with disabilities ever going to gain the necessary respect of colleagues in any field when those same people can assume that so and so was awarded a place because she or he is disabled. While it’s true that sometimes people with...
When ethics clash
Are you a "Do as I say, not as I do" person or a "Only ask of others what I am willing to do myself" person? We may not know that we are either one of these "characters", but generally everyone has a dominate belief of how to behave with others, whether in the business world or personal relationship world.Basically, when you ask for help, are you asking for someone to do it for you because you simply don't want to do it or are you asking because your plate is full and you need someone to help lighten the load? What are some options for dealing with the opposite of yourself? For instance if someone who is unwilling to do something themselves and request that you do it for them? Do you do it to keep the peace or do you decline because the other is fully capable, just unwilling? How do you decline in a peaceful manner that does not lead to tension in the relationship?
