| | | My husband's YouTube account was deleted, so sad. | | My husband had an account in YouTube and it was deleted by the administrator because of the copyright law. He is an avid fan of Elvis Presley and he is fond of cutting clips from Elvis' concerts and share it to his friends on YouTube. The bad thing about the administrator of YouTube is because they had given him a one day warning only thru email and it was really a bad timing because he wasn't able to check his email that day. When he opened his account, he can't access it anymore. We don't know lots of things about copyrights so I think my husband is innocent and if he was warned days before that, I mean, more than one day, maybe he can have sent his friends some messages that he will be using a new account or that he will have to delete some videos. So now, his YouTube friends are all gone and he would have to post all our family videos that he also uploaded for our relatives abroad. | |
| | Why do you put a signature in your post? | | I noticed that some of mylotters put a signature at the end of their post. I was asked why I put mine. To put it bluntly to avoid other users from using copying and paste and use my contribution as theirs. I have seen it here occurring a couple of times. | | Has anyone else here had written material stolen? | | I recently found a book that I wrote for sale through http://hiddenmysteries.com/xcart/home.phpThese people had downloaded my material from an old site I had and were selling my book through a "print on demand" company for $22.95 a piece.I ordered a copy (under a different name) and received a copy, cover and all' after a few weeks. The material was identical to what I had on the net.I called these people, got their 'president' and asked who he thought he was that could sell other people's material over internet. He proceeded to tell me he didn't know what the copy right laws were in Norway.The person took the book off the internet immediately when he was discovered and is no longer selling it but how many other people here have had things ripped off?Since it is so easy to steal material from the net do you think there should be enacted laws severely punishing such crooks?Let me know how you feel about the incident. | |

I finally felt relieve and vindicated. | | Is it wrong to buy second hand books? | | Frankly speaking, I do not have too much money to buy brand new books. But I love to read. I mean I read everything - thrillers, dramas, adventures, romantic novels. Absolutely anything. So what I do is buy old books. I would love to have new books but since I cannot afford it, I just make do with the old ones.But I have a college mate, who thinks I am crazy. He is of the opinion that by buying a second hand book I am actually helping piracy and the publisher and writer of the books are not getting any benefits from this. He asks me to buy new books all the time. I went to buy books with him a couple of times and after the terrible experience I have stopped going with him, specially when I am planning on buying books.Do you also think that buying second hand books is wrong? Do you buy second hand books? | |
