How would you handle this? Disability nightmare, Chapter XIVIVXXXIII
I'm about to go insane over this disability case of mine! For those who haven't been following my case, here are the basics:I applied for disability in 2002 after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and numerous other syndromes. I had been unable to work since 2000.After denial after denial and appeal after appeal, I had my last hearing before the disability judge on February 13th, this year. The judge wanted an updated psyche evaluation so that was set up for April 20th, which I went to.On May 1st, I received a letter from the judge, along with a copy of the psyche report, saying that I had 10 days from receipt of that letter to request a new hearing or submit additional information. Since the psyche report wasextremely in my favor, I did nothing.Well, that "10 days" was over on May 11th. It's now June 10th and I've heard nothing from Social Security; nothing at all.I'm thinking of writing a letter to the judge, but am not exactly sure how to say what I want to say. I don't want to jeopardize an approval, which I SHOULD be getting, since the judge said his decision would be based on that psyche evaluation, so I'm unsure how to go about wording a...
Will Those $54 Million Pants Ever Go Away?
Like a bad cold you just cannot shake off, the infamous lost pants lawsuit is back. Wednesday, ABC News 7 in Washington D.C. reported that former D.C. Administrative Law Judge Roy Pearson has been granted a chance to revive his $54 million lawsuit against a local dry cleaner for misplacing his pair of slacks. http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/0908/552285.html Not only did this frivolous lawsuit prove to be an embarrassment to Pearson, who lost his judgeship after he lost his case, this appeal is proving to be an embarrassment to the integrity of our legal system. I have an idea maybe the three judges that made up the appellate court panel that agreed to hear Pearson’s appeal should loss their judgeship. Is this story just the most ridicules court case ever or is there a court case even more ridicules? all.I'm thinking of writing a letter to the judge, but am not exactly sure how to say what I want to say. I don't want to jeopardize an approval, which I SHOULD be getting, since the judge said his decision would be based on that psyche evaluation, so I'm unsure how to go about wording a letter to him.Do you have any ideas or...
Dentist claiming chest rubs appropriate...Is this guy mad or what!!??
This is an article I just read at http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/articles/2007/10/15/1192300649971.htmlA dentist accused of fondling the breasts of 27 female patients is trying to keep his dental license by arguing that chest massages are an appropriate procedure in certain cases.Mark Anderson's lawyer says dental journals discuss the need to massage the pectoral muscles to treat a common jaw problem.Police say Anderson said during recorded phone calls that he routinely massaged patients' chests to treat temporo-mandibular joint disorder, or TMJ, which causes neck and head pain.Attorney Robert Zaro told administrative law judge Jonathan Lew at a hearing Thursday that he should let Anderson keep his dental license while disciplinary appeals proceed. Anderson would be supervised by two assistants and would no longer do the chest rubs, Zaro said.Zaro said Anderson, 48, of Woodland, needs to keep seeing patients so he can feed his seven children and pay for his defense. The judge made no immediate decision.Lew suspended Anderson's dental license last month. He was charged with two misdemeanor counts of battery and sexual battery. Yolo County prosecutors are...
Judge loses $64 million lawsuit over trousers
A judge in the US capital lost his $US54 million ($A64 million) lawsuit today against a dry cleaner over a pair of misplaced trousers in a case that became a symbol of the lawsuit-happy US legal system.Roy L Pearson, an administrative law judge in Washington, claimed a "satisfaction guaranteed" sign in Custom Cleaners misled consumers who, like him, were dissatisfied with their experience. The judge hearing the case ruled Pearson did not interpret that sign in a reasonable fashion."A reasonable consumer would not interpret 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' to mean that a merchant is required to satisfy a customer's unreasonable demands," DC Judge Judith Bartnoff wrote.Pearson must pay several thousand dollars in filing fees and other court costs incurred by the defendants, Bartnoff ruled. The Chung family will also ask the judge to require Pearson to pay their legal bills, a sum defence lawyer Christopher Manning said amounts to more than $118,000.The case has drawn international media coverage, especially from the Chungs' native South Korea, and widespread ridicule within the US."It's been a very difficult two years," owner Soo Chung said through an interpreter...
Marinjuana Facts
Marijuana Fact 1.Cannabis and hemp are the same. "Marijuana" was the Mexican name given to cannabis. The word `marijuana' is a Mexican slang term which became popular in the 1930's in America, during a series of media and government programs which we now refer to as the `Reefer Madness Movement.' It refers specifically to the medicine part of cannabis, which Mexican soldiers used to smoke.2.Cannabis was first cultivated in China around 4000B.C. According to the Chinese historic records and archeological data, the history of Chinese hemp cultivation and use spans approx. 5,000 to 6,000 years3.The original drafts of the Declaration of Independence were written on hemp paper. 4.One acre of hemp will produce as much paper as four acres of trees. Pounded and disintegrated hemp fiber was used to make the world's oldest piece of paper, recovered from a tomb near Xi'an in Shaanxi province dating from 140-87 BC (Temple 1986). 5.Hemp is a source of fiber for cloth and cordage for rope. The hemp fiber is located inside the long stem of the plant. 6.George Washington and Thomas Jefferson grew hemp. Washington, our first president, declared,"Make the most of the hemp...
Services must be improved for better law enforcement
Wreaths lay in front of the gate to a major electronics store at Zhongguancun in Beijing over the weekend, in memory of Li Zhiqiang, a policeman who died on duty last Friday. People often associate the police with duties such as regulating traffic or solving crimes. But Li Zhiqiang was not a police officer in that common sense of the word. He was a staff member in the new local government administration entitled "bureau of comprehensive administrative law enforcement for urban management." True to its long title, the new bureau's teams of law enforcers take charge of implementing regulations, administrative orders and laws encompassing 14 areas, as specified on its website, www.bjcg.gov.cn.
